I was planning to make a slipstream Windows 7 DVD, and for the same I need help.
Where can I download all Windows 7 updates? I already have SP1 in exe format.

    The way I slipstreamed mine was to obtain the updates via this method.
    Click Start/Control Panel/Windows Update/View Update History double click on an update you want to download for the slipstreamed Dvd aan click on More Information it will take you to the Microsoft Site scroll down to Resolution you will see How to Obtain this Update you may have to follow a link or it will let you download it from there. Thinking of doing the same myself in the next few days as mine needs updating. Hope this helps.

    You can also try rt_7_lite or Windows configuration tool by Rockers team to customize the Windows ISO.

    2.Allow Addon or Activex after that Microsoft catalog Page loads.
    3.Type Wondows 7 in the search box.
    4.Add all the Necessary windows 7 updates which you require in slipstream Windows seven DVD all are stored in basket.
    5. Finally click on View Basket where all added updates are present click on Download & make Update Folder in any location.
    That's all all updates downloaded in that Folder.

    Also I would recommend to keep aumatitic updating on.

Instead of having to maintain a constantly updated slipstreamed version of Win7 (btw, I still haven't seen a tool to slipstream Win7 and MS does not provide a way to do it like they did with XP), I just keep an updated update ISO by using the WSUS Offline Update. Each month after Patch Tuesday, I just run the tool to create new images for the operating systems & office suites I am supporting and it creates new udpdate images for me. When I need them for a job, I just burn the appropriate images to DVD, pop it into the machine and let it do all of the updating for me. It will automatically reboot and restart itself as necessary until all of the needed updates have been applied.

    • this is a good option put i prefer to use the official windows update and select the the updates you need only

      • The update list just contains the list of updates for the selected system. You are still able to select the updates you actually want to download within the tool.

        Also the updates are downloaded from the official source.

  14. You may try Windows Update Catalog from Microsoft (You'll have to use Internet explorer :( ...) OR Wsus offline, it does not have Visual C++ or .Net Hotfixes, just the basic updates:

  17. How many updates your computer needs, it depends on what build your win is!
    You can never tell that after installing an update, there will not be an update for the same thing, one week later!
    I don't of any way to download updates in win 7!
    The only option would be using windows update!
    So, if you format you computer, you need to re-download all the updates from the beginning, using windows update!

It is better advised to do a clean install and check for updates, as it will be more safely installing the updates, or you can go for a another installation, where the tweaked windows 7 will be containing all the updates being installed in it, but the overall iso size will be increase from Retail windows 7 iso file size by 2 GB.
